Muller Thurgau is a mid-late cider variety bred by prof. Herrmann Müller, originally from the Swiss canton of Thurgau, in 1882 at the Research and Breeding Institute in Geisenheim, Germany. It is a cross between Riesling and Madeleine Royal. It was entered in the State Variety Book in 1941.
A typical varietal wine should have a light color with a green-yellow hue, a nutmeg aroma with fruity shades (nettle-peach) and a fresh taste with lower acidity. In the aroma and taste we can look for grassy tones, citrus fruits, nutmeg, gooseberry, blackcurrant, peach, grapefruit. Wine is usually not archived any longer.
